Bolinhos de Bacalhau Receita – Salt Cod Fritters Recipe
Bolinhos de Bacalhau is another take on the classic “Pasteis de Bacalhau.” Perfectly served as an appetizer or a snack, its clear why it is one of Portugal’s most popular finger foods – it’s delicious! In English, you can refer to them as Salt Cod Fritters or Cod Fish Pastries. Sea Side in Algarve or Costa da Capirica, with a few Bolinhos de Bacalhau, a fresh salad salted and dressed with vinegar, you couldn’t ask for a better beach day snack!
Ingredients
- 5-6 Medium Potatoes peeled/cubed
- 1 Cup Shredded Bacalhau (salted cod fish) Cooked
- 1/4 Cup Parsley
- 2 Egg Yolk
- 1/2 Cup Oil for Frying
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Instructions
- Bring Water to a boil
- Boil Potatoes for 12-15 minutes
- Mash Potatoes, let cool
- Shred Pre boiled Bacalhau
- Mix Mashed Potatoes, Bacalhau, and Parsley in a bowl
- Season with Salt and Pepper to taste
- Mix ingredients
- Add 2 eggs and 1 egg yolk, continue mixing
- Using your hands, create 2-3 inch balls by rolling chunks of the mixture between your palms
- Fry in oil, making sure to continuously move them around, as not to stick to the bottom
- Once golden brown, remove, and let drain on paper towels
