Camarão à Guilho AKA garlic shrimp is one of those dishes you can smell before you see—garlic hitting hot olive oil, shrimp sizzling, and that hint of spice floating through a Portuguese kitchen. It’s a simple recipe, but one that instantly brings you back to coastal cafés and shared plates with family

Ingredients
- 1 pound large/jumbo shrimp
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 6-8 cloves of garlic, chopped
- pinch of salt and pinch of pepper
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 lemon
- parsley or cilantro for garnish
- splash of white wine or vinho verde
Instructions
- Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Heat olive oil in shallow pan and add butter.
- Once oil and butter are hot and combined, add garlic. Control your temperature as to not burn the garlic.
- Once garlic starts to become fragrant, add shrimp and cook shrimp for about 4-5 minutes on medium to medium-high heat. Be careful not to overcook.
- Mix the shrimp well in the oil while cooking, so that everything is well coated.
- Add splash of vinho verde or white wine. Squeeze a lemon and garnish with parsley or cilantro. Mix well.
- Remove from heat and serve!
