Lulas Guisadas
Portuguese people are known for cooking up great seafood. More specifically…Marisco! We love our squid aka calamari, aka Lulas, and guisadas is just one of many ways of doing it. This provides a one pot, hearty meal for the whole family. Great any time of year, and don't forget to bring some bread to dip in the sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 lbs Calamari, sliced in loops
- 4-5 Potatoes
- 3 Tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tbsp Parsley, chopped
- 1 Lemon
- 3 Garlic Cloves
- 4-5 cups Vinho Verde
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 3 tbsp Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Water, if needed
- 1 tbsp Massa Pimentao
- 1 Small Onion
Instructions
- Marinade Lulas with Wine, garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and massa de pimentao.
- In a deep pot, simmer onion and a bay leaf with olive oil. When onion becomes transparent, add Lulas. Simmer for a few minutes on medium/high heat.
- Add tomatoes, parsley, and enough vinho verde to cover everything. Let simmer on medium heat for about 12-15 minutes.
- Add cubed potatoes, re season, and add enough water/wine to cover everything just to the top.
- Cook on medium heat for 30 minutes. Stir it every few minutes. Serve.
